IIM Bangalore Opens Admissions for BSc (Hons) in Data Science and Economics 2026
The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) has announced a major milestone in its academic evolution with the launch of two full-time, four-year residential undergraduate degree programmes — BSc (Hons) in Data Science and BSc (Hons) in Economics — for the 2026–27 academic session. This marks IIM Bangalore’s first-ever venture into undergraduate education.

About the Programmes
The new BSc (Hons) programmes — Data Science with a minor in Economics and Economics with a minor in Data Science — will be taught at IIM Bangalore’s upcoming Jigani campus. Each programme will admit 40 students, ensuring a total of 80 in the first cohort, with a focus on small class sizes and personalised mentorship.
The BSc (Hons) in Data Science is designed to develop expertise in algorithms, stochastic processes, and data structures, blending technical knowledge with business and behavioural sciences. The BSc (Hons) in Economics programme integrates economic theory, econometrics, and behavioural economics with modern analytics for real-world policy and business applications. Both courses emphasize hands-on learning, global exposure, and leadership development through internships and experiential modules.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be 20 years or younger as of August 1, 2026.
- Completion of Class XII or equivalent with Mathematics as a compulsory subject.
- At least 60% marks in Class X Mathematics.
- Applications are open until November 20, 2025 through the official portal ug.iimb.ac.in.
Admission Process
Selection will be through the IIM Bangalore Undergraduate Admissions Test (IIMB UGAT), scheduled for December 13, 2025. The test will assess candidates' skills in Mathematics, English, Logical Reasoning, and General Knowledge.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for in-person interviews from January 22–31, 2026. Final offers will be issued by February 28, 2026. Successful applicants will begin their academic journey at the Jigani campus in August 2026.
The annual tuition fee is set at ₹8.5 lakh per year, with IIM Bangalore allocating 20% of total costs towards need-based financial aid.

The upcoming Jigani campus, located about 30 km from IIM Bangalore’s flagship Bannerghatta Road campus, symbolizes a new chapter in the institute’s evolution. With futuristic infrastructure, dedicated residential facilities, and interdisciplinary learning spaces, the campus is designed to nurture innovation in education and research.
