Eligibility Criteria

  • With M.Tech/M.E/M.Des.: Minimum 60% aggregate or 6.0 CGPA (Relaxation: 55%/5.5 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD).
  • With M.Sc./M.A./MBA/MBBS: Minimum 60% aggregate or equivalent CGPA + valid GATE/CSIR NET/JRF qualification.
  • With B.Tech/B.E: Minimum 70% aggregate or 7.0 CGPA + valid GATE/JRF.
  • Candidates from CFTIs (IITs, NITs, IIITs) with a CGPA ≥8.0 are exempted from GATE.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Can final-year students apply?

Yes. Final semester students can apply, provided they complete all requirements before registration.

2. How many times a year are applications invited?

Twice a year — in March for Semester I and in October for Semester II admissions.

3. Is financial assistance available?

Yes. Full-time Ph.D. students receive a monthly assistantship of ₹37,000 (first 2 years) and ₹42,000 (next 3 years).

4. Are international students eligible?

Yes. International students can apply directly and may avail support under the International Ph.D. Fellowship Programme.

5. What is the program duration?

A minimum of 2 years for M.Tech. holders and 3 years for B.Tech. holders, with a maximum of 7 years to submit the thesis.
